Cush It For Cancer Campaign

October 31st - November 28th

As we approach the half-way point of our first Cush It for Cancer Campaign, we are reminded how far we have come. With your help we have been able to support research into rare T-cell lymphomas, but we’re not done yet, there is still so much that needs to be done.

Please help by watching and sharing this video. If you can help financially, please consider a donation of $20.16 in memory of our founder Ben ‘Big Cat’ Cushing who envisioned a world where everyone gets to grow up and live their dreams.  Thank you!

It was 2016 and Ben “BIG CAT” Cushing was 19 years old. Having recently graduated high-school, Ben was passionate about following in his parent’s footsteps as a Washington State University Cougar, and a Tau Kappa Epsilon Legacy like his father before him. He was ready to grasp all that college life had in store for him and to carve his own path. Ben’s second semester of college suddenly came to a halt when he was given the devastating blow of a blood cancer diagnosis. In less than a year, Ben, like many before him, lost his life to this aggressive disease. We lost our “BIG CAT”, but not before he started fundraising for blood cancer research so that others could be saved.

A donation to the fund, no matter how small, goes directly to research already in progress by Dr. Andrei Shustov, Dr. Alex Greninger and team at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the University of Washington. Their research studies the underlying biology of this rare blood cancer; Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL), for which there is no known cure.

Rare blood cancers are often overlooked by pharmaceutical companies, which is why grass root funding like this is critical to finding treatment options. Blood cancers like HSTCL are rare, but deadly and more often than not, claim the youngest and closest to our hearts. Our research team is working to identify the gene or infectious agent that causes this type of lymphoma. They have recently identified some commonalities between patients that provide an exciting new area of inquiry. We are hopeful that our research will one day open more effective treatment options for patients with HSTCL.

Cush it to the Limit is optimistic about the cutting edge research that Ben’s vision started funding in 2017. Please help us continue Ben “Big Cat’ Cushing’s dream of finding a cure for rare blood cancers with a donation of $20.16 or another amount in memory of the year his life should have just been starting.

Please share this with your friends and family.

Ben believed that all cancers deserve a cure; we believe that together we can make his vision a reality.
